A LIBRARIAN’S EXPERIENCE

A Librarian experiences upon showing “The Backwards Series”.

“As a librarian of 25 years, I have never seen the unanticipated reaction of reluctant/challenged readers to the Backwards Series. I was demonstrating how the writer engaged the reader with different literary devices and formatting the text. I brought the three books of the Backwards Series out and read the warning at "the beginning" of the book. Every student was instantly engaged and wanted to see the books for themselves. I held up one of the books and read the second warning and then turned to the back of the book to start the story. Why and how the author had done this was the buzz around the library tables. How had the author done this was it some sort of technological process or magic? I read them the author's note aloud and one student made the remark that it made the problems that some students have more real and more understandable to others. I had to have a drawing to see who would get to check out the books first and am still working on the waiting list. I predict that these books will not stay on the shelves for long.”
